Wrestling Stafford Highlanders
ELIGIBILITY
The Virginia Wrestling Academy (VWA) is open to all wrestlers ages 5 and up. The Stafford Highlanders program is intended for beginner and intermediate level wrestlers ages 5-14. The more advanced VWA program is intended for select wrestlers ages 10 and up. To enter the VWA Advanced program, wrestlers should have at least 3 to 4 years of wrestling experience, and be ready for intense challenges in training to prepare for highly competitive wrestling tournaments. The VWA is geared toward readying wrestlers to hit the ground running at the start of high school and beyond. This includes the development of advanced wrestling techniques as well as mental and physical toughness necessary for success in highly competitive wrestling tournaments at the state and national levels. To enter the VWA Advanced Program, wrestlers should have developed an internal desire for the sport of wrestling that transcends parental encouragement. In other words, the wrestler needs to love it and want it themselves.
TEAM REGISTRATION PLANS
FALL-WINTER PLAN:
Normal Fall-Winter VWA and Highlanders Team registration/season dues are $660.00 which includes: Participation in the Top of the Podium Winter Wrestling Series tournament fees, Training Facility fees for 1 October through 31 March , USA Wrestling Limited Folkstyle Wrestling card with Individual Insurance, Team T-shirt. Use of a team Singlet requires an additional $75.00 deposit. This deposit will be returned at the End of Season with return of the Singlet). Payment of $660.00 is due upon registration. If this is difficult we will facilitate an initial payment of $330.00 or half of the balance due for more than 1 wrestler in a family. The follow-up payment of the remaining balance (e.g. $330.00 for 1 wrestler) is due 7 January. Advantages of the Fall-Winter Plan are:

WINTER PLAN:
The Winter Plan is a reduced plan for those who play other sports which go late into the fall. Winter Plan dues are $360 which include: Participation in the Top of the Podium Winter Wrestling Series tournament fees, Training Facility fees for 1 January through 31 March , USA Wrestling Limited Folkstyle Wrestling card with Individual Insurance, and team T-shirt. Payment of $360 +$75 Singlet deposit is due prior to 1 January.
Discounted sibling rates (Same as above) for families with more than one wrestler are:
1st Wrestler $360.00 • 2nd Wrestler $252.00
3rd Wrestler $144.00 • 4th Wrestler FREE
FULL-YEAR PLAN:
We are continuing the FULL-YEAR PLAN this year! For only $1000 you can purchase training access at VWA for the ENTIRE YEAR (1 Oct – 30 Sep). This is the best deal for your money over the course of the year if your are committed to learning all 3 styles of wrestling and want to be able to come as you desire for additional mat time in the Summer. An additional singlet deposit of $75.00 will be due if you decide to compete. If this is difficult we will facilitate an initial payment of $500.00 or half of the balance due for more than 1 wrestler in a family. The follow-up payment of the remaining balance (e.g. $500.00 for 1 wrestler) is due 7 January. Here are the advantages of the FULL-YEAR PLAN:

- Unrestricted access to training all year

MONTHLY PLAN:
The monthly plan is for those who do not wish to compete regularly with the VWA team but would only like to train month to month. The Monthly Plan for training only is $150 per month. A 30% discount per sibling is also available for this plan.
Wrestler age groups vary depending on tournaments entered. For reference, we expect the USA Wrestling Age Groups this year to be:

USA Junior Born 9/1/2002 and after; 9th-12th Grade
ATTENTION!!!! Physical space is limited and registration may end due to capacity. TO ENSURE YOUR WRESTLER’S ROSTER SPOT – Pay $75 Deposit to secure a singlet prior to 31 October via ELECTRONIC PAYMENT!!! The VWA dues include various select tournament fees. Beginner wrestlers with less than 4 years of experience or younger than 10 years old should not register here. However, 8th graders should register here regardless of experience if they wish to properly prepare for wrestling the next year in high school. ELECTRONIC PAYMENT
You can pay electronically near the bottom of this page by clicking on the link to our Square site. There will be a small additional fee for the convenience of using Square. After paying please return to this page to complete the registration process by clicking on the link to our Google Forms registration form.
PAYMENT BY CHECK/CASH
If you choose pay by check you can register electronically by clicking on the link to our Google Forms registration form or register with paper onsite at our training facility (the old way). Check/Money Order/Cash and paperwork should be brought to our facility upon beginning training from 6:00pm to 8:00pm or any training session in October. Registration by check / money order / cash is only considered complete once payment is received. Please make checks or money order payable to VIRGINIA WRESTLING ACADEMY.
TRAINING
Beginning October 4th, training will be as follows:
Stafford Highlanders Beginner/Intermediate Wresters:
Mondays and Wednesdays: 6-8pm (5-7 year olds go from 6-7pm)
Saturdays: Technique focused Clinic with Coach Keith 11am-1pm (5-7 year olds 10-11am)
VWA Advanced Wrestlers:
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 6-8pm
Saturdays: Technique focused Clinic with Coach Keith 11am-1pm.
As the number of wrestlers increases expect these hours to change slightly. For example, if we get close to 20 5-7 year olds we will split them out into a completely separate session that will start slightly earlier on all days. If the number of Advanced Wrestlers and Beginner Wrestlers gets large enough…over 20 in each session, we will likely split those sessions as well on Saturdays and start the Beginners earlier around 9am.
VWA TOURNAMENTS
Information is forthcoming for VWA participating tournaments. Tournaments will be posted on the calendar viewable on the main page of this website and socialized on Signal and Facebook at the Stafford at the VWA and Highlanders group sites.
USAW INSURANCE
We use USAW with their insurance, and offer a limited Folkstyle card for the Fall-Winter Program. If you wish to train with us during the Spring Session starting 1 April – 30 June, and wish to compete in Freestyle or Greco-Roman Tournaments, you will need to purchase your Full Athlete USAW membership, which will allow you to participate in events in USAW Folkstyle events (local, state, regional, and national) as well as Freestyle and Greco-Roman events. The USAW membership season ends on 31 August and will need to be repurchased for events after 1 September. If you purchase the Limited Folkstyle Athlete Membership after 1 September, keep your receipt. If you sign up for the Fall/Winter session with Stafford Highlanders or VWA we will reimburse you for the Limited Folkstyle Athlete Membership.
